I’m Ashley, and it’s so great to meet you!
I have always wanted to be a therapist. My journey to becoming a therapist has been anything but linear. I hope that sharing a bit about my story empowers women, who may be feeling less than fulfilled in their lives, to believe that something more exists, and the sky is truly the limit. Throughout my journey to becoming a therapist, I have gained invaluable experience that informs my practice. Every role and industry I became a part of has been in the name of helping people, fostering interpersonal relationships, and supporting peers, mainly women, to take steps toward living better.
I bring a decade of experience in business, Human Resources, and Career Development, honing my expertise in employment, career retraining, and multi-service not-for-profit sectors. I have had the privilege of supporting a wide variety of clients ranging from post-secondary students and mid-level workers to seasoned executives and professionals. My mission was to foster joy in one’s work and craft a meaningful career trajectory.
While I loved my work, the 9-5 office environment just wasn’t for me, deep down I knew I wanted to do something more. So, I kept my eyes and heart open to opportunities that would allow me to help people, but in a way that more closely fit the lifestyle I was trying to achieve. I started at a gym not even realizing, this was my next career path. Having a coach changed my life. I knew I wanted to be a bigger part of this industry than just a client, so I trained to become a coach. I understand the profound impact that community and physical activity can have on self-esteem and recognize the difference that a coach can make compared to navigating the journey alone. I am also well-acquainted with the unique challenges tied to sports, discipline, and transitioning from competitive sports to other life pursuits.
For the past six years, I have dedicated myself to the role of fitness and nutrition coach, empowering hundreds of clients to reshape their lifestyles, learn new skills, cultivate meaningful habits, and embark on transformative journeys to a better life. What I noticed was that every client shared their entire life with me, not just their fitness. My focus became empowering women to live their best lives inside and outside the gym. I built and managed a fitness program for postpartum women, which has blossomed into a nurturing community of women experiencing motherhood together. When we become mothers, we add to our multiple identities (wife, partner, student, worker, etc.) and it is important not to forget all that we are beyond motherhood.
My practice is heavily informed by my business and coaching background and guided by the principles of positive psychology, solution-focused, narrative, and parts work therapies. This means I meet my clients exactly where they are at. I work with my clients to determine what they are seeking, what makes it meaningful, and what modifications can be made to take the next step forward. Whether you want a structured plan of attack or just someone to talk to, I would love to meet you.
My client interactions span a broad range of cultural backgrounds, including minority groups and the LGBTQ+ community. Rooted in cultural humility, kindness, and patience, my workspace is private, safe, and inclusive. I acknowledge the strength it takes to reach out and talk to someone, and I am so glad you are here. I see you; I appreciate you, and I want to listen to your story.
